Material Engineering of the Reusable Coffee Cup
The Reusable Coffee Cup is engineered to provide thermal insulation and mechanical durability while ensuring food-grade safety across thousands of wash cycles.
1. Double-Wall Vacuum Insulation (DWVI)
The technical standard for temperature retention is the vacuum flask. The cup consists of an inner and outer wall (usually Stainless Steel 304). During manufacturing, the air between the walls is evacuated and sealed. This creates a vacuum that eliminates Conduction and Convection, leaving only Radiation as a path for heat transfer.
2. Polymer Seal Integrity and Fatigue Resistance
Lids for reusable cups utilize elastomers like Silicone (VMQ). These seals must maintain their "Compression Set"—the ability to return to their original shape—after being subjected to the heat of the beverage and the mechanical pressure of the lid.
3. Surface Treatment: Electropolishing and Powder Coating
The interior of high-quality stainless steel cups undergoes Electropolishing to create a microscopically smooth surface. This prevents "Biofilm" accumulation and ensures that no metallic flavors are leached into the liquid. The exterior is often treated with a Polyester Powder Coating, which provides a high-friction grip and protects the steel from corrosive dishwashing detergents.
